My snow angels.
Since I’m a Denver photographer most of my photography clients are naturally in the Denver area I’m sure that you all experienced the same super snow day today that I did. My children’s school actually cancelled school for today….yesterday! I loved having the notice of the school closure but decided to keep this important information between myself and my husband.
You see….kids are funny creatures. They wake up early on the weekends so they can play but you have to drag them out of bed on school days. So I figured that if I didn’t tell them that school was cancelled that they would sleep in.
And it WORKED!
They slept in for hours past their usual time thinking that my alarm had not gone off and they were just going to school late. Not the case, little ones. I never set my alarm and took full advantage of a lazy day.
Well, that’s not entirely true. With my husband on the ski slopes for the day it left me in charge of snow removal.
Over SIXTEEN INCHES of snow fell in our yard! I shoveled and shoveled and shoveled. More than two hours later and I only had two thirds of our huge three car garage driveway cleared. I threw in the white towel of surrender and switched out my shovel for my camera. I was exhausted and freezing so I only took a few photos for the kids to remember their snow day and playing in the snow for hours.
I’ll, of course, add a caption under the photos in their photo books that they blissfully played in the snow while they watched their poor mother shoveling the heaviest {albeit beautiful} snow on earth. All I can say is that with three little boys it’s just a matter of time before they are old enough to be sent to do the hard work of shoveling for me while I watch from inside the piano room window drinking a nice cup of hot chocolate. And then I’ll take the photo through the window so I can forever say in the warm cozy house.
